24 Feb sermon- how to resist temptations

Bible Verse - 1 John 2:15-17 ()
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the worldthe desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessionsis not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. #Bible http://j.mp/108VyR7
my Bible verse for today was the verse that was preached from by your pastor on Sunday!

Another excerpt from 1 corinthians 5... v9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? 13 God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”

--1 Cor 5:9--
I wrote you in my [previous] letter not to associate [closely and habitually] with unchaste (impure) people-- Not [meaning of course that you must] altogether shun the immoral people of this world, or the greedy graspers and cheats and thieves or idolaters, since otherwise you would need to get out of the world and human society altogether! But now I write to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of [Christian] brother if he is known to be guilty of immorality or greed, or is an idolater [whose soul is devoted to any object that usurps the place of God], or is a person with a foul tongue [railing, abusing, reviling, slandering], or is a drunkard or a swindler or a robber. [No] you must not so much as eat with such a person. What [business] of mine is it and what right have I to judge outsiders? Is it not those inside [the church] upon whom you are to pass disciplinary judgment [passing censuring sentence on them as the facts require]? (1 Corinthians 5:9-12 AMP)

So as much as we are IN this world, let us not be OF it, rather be daily sanctified and made more like christ. We can hang out with people of the world but do not be of the world. We do not need to behave and take on their point of view. That's out chance to share the gospel and to glorify him.

Especially admonishing and teaching Christians who do not behave as they ought.

We should not judge others of the world but those who are in church and are still doing the wrong things.

We are set apart and bought at a price! So let us glorify God through our lives.
I guess that's what I gather from the Bible verse that was preached :)
