Good Friday 18 Apr 2014 - Lesson about wild dog

18 Apr 2014

Just witnessed something so real.

I was wondering what the bible was trying to illustrate about dangerous dogs and silly or dirty pigs. Urban dweller like me mostly see domestic dogs and most of the time they are tame, trained and tidied. I don't quite get this verse.

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. (Matthew 7:6 NIV)

Why can't we give dogs what is sacred? They cannot appreciate it and will destroy it? Or mock it?

From BSF notes:
The dogs and pigs mentioned in the passage were not cute pets or tame farmyard animals. They were often wild and vicious. Both were hungry scavengers, known to even eat the dead.

Read it on the bus on the way there and was trying to digest it. Wow, never thought I'll witness it real life real time at Ubin. Thank goodness I was spared the actual fighting and the scramble. When we walked past, the baby boar was already dead...

Upon reaching the Chek Jawa path, we parked our bicycles to walk to the boardwalk. Admired the wild boards and the baby boars for a while before moving off. After we completed the loop on the way back, we saw this dog tearing away the flesh and devouring a baby boar!!

OMG! Really stunned all of us. A life is just taken away like that. But that is life and that is the real wildlife and that is how the world goes round.

It also made me realise how vicious, hungry and merciless the wild dog can be. 😱
They can turn around and hurt you.

Thank God for His protection during our trip to Ubin. We even helped to apply
bandage onto another lady who slipped and fell and bruised her forehead. Our blessings overflowing to bless others!

We were like wild dogs, but now we have been tamed to be obedient. Vicious and angry no more!

Blessed Good Friday!!

Purposeful work for the Millenials.

Every generation probably feels like it has gotten the short end of the stick, but critics really love to hate on millennials. They call us the lazy generation, the entitled generation, and the “me me me generation.” Based on the young people I know, these stereotypes couldn’t be farther from the truth. Millennials want to work--and despite being shackled by debt, recession, and the jobs crisis--they aren’t motivated by money. Rather, they’re driven to make the world more compassionate, innovative, and sustainable.

When I interviewed dozens of millennials about their career choices for The Quarter-Life Breakthrough, not once did someone answer that they wanted to “make lots of money,” “have lots of power,” or “retire with a pension in 40 years.”

Rather, they said things like: “I want to teach urban teenagers how to avoid debt and become successful entrepreneurs,” “I want to inspire young girls to think they can become engineers, and not Barbie dolls,” “I want to teach kids living in a food desert how to grow their own food,” and “I want to ensure large corporations reduce their carbon footprint.”

These young people aren’t motivated by climbing the career ladder or their stock options. The majority of millennials have already changed careers and over 90% of millennials expect to stay in a job for fewer than three years. As Nathaniel Koloc, co-founder and CEO of ReWork--a talent firm that places purpose-seeking professionals in social impact jobs--says, “There is no clear way ‘up’ anymore, it’s just a series of projects or jobs, one after another. You can move in any direction, the only question is how you’re devising your strategy of where to move and where you can ‘land,’ i.e., what you’re competitive for.”

Young people aren’t waiting for retirement. They’re asking what their purpose is now, and they’re determined to find the opportunities, organizations, and companies that share their purpose. A recent study by Net Impactshowed that the millennial generation expects to make a difference in the world through their work, and more than half of millennials would take a 15% pay cut to do work for an organization that matches their values.

We aren’t the “me me me generation.” We’re a group of determined individuals who refuse to settle because we know how great our impact can be when we find work we truly care about.

So, how do you actually find meaningful work? How do you land a job (or start a company) that contributes to society (and pays the bills)?

First, it’s important to accept that there is no right answer or cure-all when it comes to finding meaningful work. Everyone is different and our purpose is constantly evolving as we meet new people, learn new things, and travel to new places. The millennials profiled in my book have done everything from register thousands of first-time voters, fight for immigrant rights, leave a nonprofit for a tech company, and leave a tech company for a nonprofit. Any kind of work can be meaningful: the challenge is discovering what purpose makes you come alive.

Based on my interviews, I discovered that meaningful work allows you to 1) share your gifts, 2) make an impact in the lives of others, and 3) live your desired quality of life. Getting these three components to align is the goal, but it’s certainly not easy.

Here are four lessons learned from impact-driven millennials that can help you pursue work that matters.

1: Practice intentional experimentation

Alex McPhillips left his lucrative job writing about the Boston Red Sox for MLB.com to volunteer on Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign because he was tired of writing about baseball and wanted to join a political campaign he believed in. That volunteer experience eventually turned into a paid job on the campaign, a staff position in the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, and then a job managing social media for the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Seek opportunities that excite you and inspire you to wake up in the morning. Build a purposeful career by experimenting with opportunities you actually care about.

2: Know who you are

Meaningful careers are made up of personal journeys to get closer to who we are and what we value. Upon graduation, Tom D’Eri considered positions in corporate social responsibility, but the corporate world didn’t excite him. Instead, he went back to an idea he had in college that was inspired by his brother Andrew, who has autism. Although his brother is a vibrant young man, Tom saw his brother’s disability put him at a clear disadvantage when it came to securing meaningful employment. So alongside his father, Tom builtRising Tide Car Wash in south Florida, which employs and empowers people with autism. The family business provides people of all ability levels an opportunity to build a career and an independent life. By picking a cause near to his heart, Tom embarked on a journey to build a business that provides personal meaning to him, as well as meaning to his employees and customers.

3: Use skills as leverage

Skills often get people hired. Research (see Daniel Pink’Drive orCal Newport’s So Good They Can’t Ignore You) has shown that people who find fulfilling work are good at what they do and have mastered a particular craft or talent. But what happens when you’re really good at your job and still feel stuck or unfulfilled?

This was the case for Deepa Subramaniam, who worked as a product manager for a tech company for 10 straight years following college. During her 10th year at the company, she began to get restless and eager for a career change. Subramaniam decided to outside her comfort zone and started hanging out with a lot of people in the social impact space where she realized that many organizations, both nonprofit and for-profit, could use her particular skills and strengths. She noticed an opening for charity: water’s director of product, and used her new network to get connected to the leadership team and eventually land the position. Subramaniam took the skills she had gained from over 10 years working in tech as a product manager, and applied them to a new role as director of product for a clean water nonprofit.

If you need to develop a new skill, start learning now. In-person and online platforms like General Assembly, Code Academy, Skillshare, and Coursera, are a great place to start. Skills allow you to take your career in multiple directions, which is ever more important in an unstable job market.

4: Find impact-driven communities to support you

Two years ago, I met a 26-year-old named Betsy Nuñez while I was mentoring at the Dell Summer Social Innovation Lab. Betsy, who grew up in a military family, was helping her sister Emily, 24, an active-duty U.S. army officer, prototype her idea for a sustainable fashion company calledSword & Plough. The company makes stylish bags out of recycled military surplus fabric and creates employment opportunities for U.S. military veterans in their supply chain and manufacturing process.

Being around other purpose-driven young people inspired Betsy to embrace her fears, leave her consulting job, and join Sword & Plough full-time. Less than a month after Betsy left her job to work with her sister full-time, she and her sister launched a Kickstarter campaign, and within two hours of being live, exceeded their $20,000 goal. After a month, they raised over $312,000 from 1,500 backers. To date, the company has supported 35 veteran jobs, recycled over 15,000 pounds of military surplus, and made over 1,700 stylish bags for consumers all over the country.

Betsy and Deepa found meaningful work by surrounding themselves with supportive communities made up of purpose-driven individuals. More and more millennials are turning to organizations like ReWork, Imperative, Echoing Green, Net Impact, and B Lab for resources like social impact job boards, career planning tools, and regional networking events. Far from being the “me me me generation,” young people are the driving force behind a new economy that puts meaning before money.

Jack Ma: People are poor because of these 4 reasons

Jack Ma: People lose out in life because of these 4 reasons:
  1. Being myopic to opportunity
  2. Looking down on opportunities
  3. Lacking understanding
  4. Failing to act quickly enough
You are poor, because you have no ambition.

If not for the incident, Wu Shihong would not have had the ambition to become rich, and her life would have taken a very different path then.
  • You are poor because you do not have the desire to become successful.
  • You are poor because you lack foresight.
  • You are poor because you cannot overcome your cowardice.
  • You are poor because you lack the courage and determination.
  • With ambition you can overcome all inferiority and maximise your potential!
  • With ambition you can persevere, continuously learn new things and strive for perfection.
  • With ambition you can defy all odds, and create miracles when others daren’t.
No matter how poor your family is, do not doubt your own abilities and lose sight of your ambition.
  • When your family deems you worthless, no one will pity you.
  • When your parents do not have money to pay the medical bills, no one will pity you.
  • When you are beaten by your competitors, no one will pity you.
  • When your loved ones abandon you, no one will pity you.
  • When you have not accomplished anything by the time you are 35, no one will pity you.
Go big, or go home. Otherwise, you’re wasting your youth.

13/04/14 Sermon note – Noah Ark

After church lunch with Grace!!

Don’t look around and be distressed
Don’t look within and be depressed
Look up and be blessed!

Notes from
http://graceunited.sg/130414-sermon-note-noah-ark/

The most legalistic person called himself a chief of sinner.
We need to be saved and born again!

God never ask Noah to kill any of his family! God has him as preacher of righteousness!
The world was so wicked that they never response to his preaching.

God is not wicked! The movie Noah made it such that Noah is more merciful than God! This is not true! God never ask Noah to kill anyone in his family! He asked him to save his family!

What the devil meant for evil God is turning it for good!

The promise of all promises-
Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”

Our Lord Jesus is her Seed. This is prophesy of Virgin Birth.

In crushing satan’s head, he will crush His heel.

The serpent Crusher is Jesus!

Cain and Abel, both brothers knew without shedding of blood there will not be forgiveness of sin! Cain jealous of his brother Abel. Satan thought Jesus will come from them. He started this “campaign” of making them kill each other.

Today you don’t marry your own relatives or siblings.

But back in those days, man was still living very long years. Even though they sin they lived long life! Their gene pool was not degenerated yet. God now tell us not to marry within our own family.

The bible say the kingdom of this world will belong to Jesus!!

God does not check us out, He check our Lamb out!

Hebrews 11:7
By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

God protect His people when He told Noah to build an ark.

Genesis 6:1-22

Genesis 6:2
that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.

Daughters of men are just women
Sons of God are angels. Fallen angels. 1/3 of angels followed satan.
Sons of God are angels, and they are able to take the body of man!!
They are not supposed to abuse that position but they abuse that position in Noah’s time.

Anyone created directly by God is called son of God.

We are in the family.

Job 1:6
Satan Attacks Job’s Character
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.

Job 38:7
When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Genesis 6:4
There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

Giant-nephilim (fallen ones)
And also afterward – this is after the flood!

They were from the stock of Nephilim. They were there to stop the coming of Christ.

David killed Goliath! Goliath was a giant!!

God raised Israel to kill the giants.

Science has proven the people back then knew more than us now.

When the fallen angels can corrupt women’s seeds, they are able to stop Jesus from coming!

Greek methodology showed giants.

Jude 1:6-7
And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Abode – body
A body that spirit being has. They transformed into stranger.

These fallen angels are being bond with chains. They are bonded earlier before the judgement day!

The angels did not help Noah build the ark.

Big skull found is because one of the angels – they have mothers who are human.

Everything leave alone will be degenerated.

Genesis 6:7-8
So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

Noah found grace. When u r full of rest u r full of grace.

2 Peter 2:4-5
Doom of False Teachers
For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;

Hell here used only one time in the entirely new testament. Hell (Tartarus)

Use the name of Jesus! And we are loose from the infirmity!!

At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow!!

Noah had 3 sons and the sons each have wives

Hebrews 11:7
By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

Make sure children’s hearts are filled with word of God.

Noah and family are the only one who r fully human.

Genesis 6:9
Noah Pleases God
This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.

Noah was the only family pure human race. God preserved human race.

Perfect : Tamim-unblemished

All dogs come from 1 pair of dogs from Noah Ark.

The animals came to Noah Ark, not Noah bring them in.

It was God’s idea to build Ark, not Noah’s idea.

God leads the animals. Painted-lady Butterfly will fly from Europe to South Africa in winter. And the next generation of this group of butterfly will fly back after winter to the same spot where their parents flew from. The parents died in South Africa as their days were numbered. God put this instinct in them!

Animals have instinct that God created in them. Before any disasters, the animals could feel it and run upward and away from the disasters hours ago!

Animals don’t rebel but we human rebel.

It is not Mother’s nature! It is Father God!!!

Man professing themselves to be wise are fools.

Genesis 6:14
Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.

God always prepare His people before disasters.

God brought dogs in terms of pairs. They were all young animals. The potential of the different breed of the dogs are all within the first pair of dogs! Within the genes are all the other type of dogs.

God is involved! All animals can hibernate. The bears can hibernate for 6 months.

God can put the animals into hibernation.

For the most part of the months the animals were under hibernation.
There were very little needs for food when they were in hibernation.

When animals hibernate, they don’t go to toilet. They have little needs for food cos they are not active.

God remember them means He meet all their needs and save them!!

Cover – kaphar
The word used for covering of sin (atone)

Pitch – kopher
Super glue for wood

All races come from one pair of human.

Noah Ark is a picture of Jesus Christ!
Jesus is the Ark! The Ark suffered the divine anger against all lawlessness. Not one wave of judgement reached Noah.

All judgement came on Jesus but never touch us!!

300 is the nos of victory!!

Genesis 6:15
And this is how you shall make it:The length of the ark shall be three hundred (nos of victory!) cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.

More than enough for all the small animals!

We are in the Ark! We are in Christ Jesus!!

Genesis 6:16
You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.

Salvation is for spirit soul and body! 3 decks!!

The world will get darker but the church will get brighter and brighter!

Jesus is the door!!!
Jesus was pierced at is side! The door was open for us to see the heart of God!!

Man build it, it sank. God build it, it will not sink! Who is building your house?

Aliens are fallen angels.

God don’t us to be occupied with our surrounding distraction. He wanna us keep our eyes on Jesus!!

God has a perfect Human Man, the Loving Man, the wonderful Man, Christ Jesus beside Him. He can understand what we are going through and He is at the Father’s right hand!!

Genesis 6:17
And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die.

Genesis 7:11-17
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.
On the very same day Noah and Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark— they and every beast after its kind, all cattle after their kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every sort. And they went into the ark to Noah, two by two, of all flesh in which is the breath of life. So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.
Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.

God – Elohim

The Lord shut Noah in. When God closes the door, we are saved inside. No creatures can do anything to us. God closed the door and we are saved inside.

We are in Christ, even when we fall, we fall in the Ark.

Whatever we put in Jesus’ hands, it multiplies!!

The Lord here is Yahweh. Yahweh is a name for covenant relationship!!

The holy spirit dictates!

David told Goliath, he came to him in the name of the Lord – Yahweh!

The name Jesus is Yahweh saves! He save us from the devil and from ourselves!

Genesis 6:18
But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.

We are honoring our parents more than we could think of! When we are saved, there is a big door open for God to come in and bless our parents!

Genesis 7:1
Chapter 7
The Great Flood
Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.

Come into the Ark.
Come to Me. Take the bath, we will come out clean!

Come unto Me, those who labor and He will give us rest!!

Righteous not because of our works.

Come into the Ark- means God is in the ark!

Genesis 8:15-16
Then God spoke to Noah, saying, “Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.

Go out of the ark – God is outside the ark. He is the Hero. He is the first to come in and last to go out as a Hero!

All of us represent God. We don’t wanna give Him bad name. It is the fruit!

Genesis 8:4
Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.

No more judgement ground!

Ararat is curse reversed!

We rose from Him into no curse ground!

It is all about His Son!

When all the animals came out, they came out 2 by 2!

Genesis 8:18-19
So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him. Every animal, every creeping thing, every bird, and whatever creeps on the earth, according to their families, went out of the ark.

All the animals came out saved! God remember them! He met all their needs!!

There is judgement but not for His people.

Everyone saved in the ark. The ark is saved. The ark cannot perish.

Genesis 9:13-15
I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud; and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.

Rainbow is when storm and sunshine collides. When devil put storm into our lives, look out for rainbow!

God will never shoot judgement on us again.

Our bodies cycle in 7! Everything in 7!

Rainbow over our head!

Isaiah 54:9-10
“For this is like the waters of Noah to Me;
For as I have sworn
That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth,
So have I sworn
That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.
For the mountains shall depart
And the hills be removed,
But My kindness shall not depart from you,
Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,”
Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

God promise never again be angry with me nor condemn me.

There is no more anger left for us in Christ Jesus!

Don’t look around and be distressed
Don’t look within and be depressed
Look up and be blessed!

Personal Branding A-Z

MUST READ MOTIVATION - Sylvester Stallone

This is one of the SADDEST stories ever told in Hollywood. His name is Sylvestar Stallone. One of the BIGGEST and Most famous American Movie superstars. Back in the day, Stallone was a
struggling actor in every definition. At some point, he got so broke that he stole his wife's jewellery and sold it. Things got so bad that he even ended up homeless. Yes, he slept at the New York bus station for 3 day...
s. Unable to pay rent or afford food. His lowest point came when he tried to sell his dog at the liquor store to any
stranger. He didn't have money to feed the dog anymore. He sold it at $25 only. He says he walked away crying.

Two weeks later,he saw a boxing match between Mohammed Ali and Chuck Wepner and that match gave him the inspiration to write the script for the famous movie, ROCKY. He wrote the
script for 20 hours! He tried to sell it and got an offer for $125,000 for the script. But he had just ONE REQUEST. He wanted to STAR in
the movie. He wanted to be the MAIN ACTOR. Rocky himself. But the studio said NO. They wanted a REAL STAR.

They said he "Looked funny and talked funny". He left with his script. A few weeks later, the studio offered him $250,000 for the script. He refused. They even offered $350,000. He still refused. They wanted his movie. But NOT him. He said NO. He had to be
IN THAT MOVIE.

After a while, the studio agreed, gave him $35,000 for the script and let him star in it! The rest is history! The movie won Best Picture, Best Directing and Best Film Editing at the prestigious
Oscar Awards. He was even nominated for BEST ACTOR! The Movie ROCKY was even inducted into the American National Film Registry as one of the greatest movies ever!

And do You know the first thing he bought with the $35,000? THE DOG HE SOLD. Yes, Stallone LOVED HIS DOG SO MUCH that he stood at the liquor store for 3 days waiting for the man he sold
his dog to. And on the 3rd day, he saw the man coming with the dog. Stallone explained why he sold the dog and begged for the dog back. The man refused. Stallone offered him $100. The
man refused. He offered him $500. And the guy refused. Yes, he refused even $1000. And believe it or not, Stallone had to pay $15,000 for the same, same dog he sold at $25 only! And he
finally got his dog back!

And today, the same Stallone who slept in the streets and sold his dog JUST BECAUSE he couldnt even feed it anymore, is one of the GREATEST Movie Stars who ever walked the Earth!

Being broke is BAD. Really BAD. Have You ever had a dream? A wonderful dream? But You are too broke to implement it? Too tiny to do it? Too small to accomplish it? Damn! I've been there too many times!

Life is tough. Opportunities will pass you by, just because you are a
NOBODY. People will want your products but NOT YOU. Its a tough
world. If you aint already famous, or rich or "connected", You will find it rough.
Doors will be shut on You. People will steal your glory and crash your hopes. You will push and push. And yet NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.

And then your hopes will be crashed. You will be broke. Damn broke. You will do odd jobs for survival. You will be unable to feed yourself. And Yes,y ou may end up sleeping in the streets.
It happens. Yes, it does.

BUT NEVER LET THEM CRUSH THAT DREAM. Whatever happens to
You, Keep Dreaming. Even when they crush your hopes, Keep Dreaming. Even when they turn you away, Keep Dreaming.
Even when they shut you down, Keep Dreaming.

NO ONE KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF EXCEPT YOURSELF! People will judge You by HOW you look. And by WHAT You have.
But please, Fight on! Fight for Your place in history. Fight for your glory. NEVER EVER GIVE UP!

Even if it means selling all your clothes and sleeping with the dogs, ITS OKAY! But AS LONG AS YOU ARE STILL ALIVE, Your STORY IS NOT OVER. TRUST ME.

Keep Up the Fight. Keep your dreams and hope alive. Go get IT.

Like and share if inspired.

Jesus is... Our hope, power, deliverer

Hello. My sister got this from a friend's friend on Pastor
Mark Conner's sermon yesterday on the pictures of Jesus in different books. Some of them sound really awesome:

In Genesis, He is the Creator God.
In Exodus, He is the Redeemer.
