Single or not

Been figuring out what marriage means to a Christian. Just want to note this down in my journal.

"
Sometimes I desire to be a little girl again, or a single lady a bit longer, having fun to travel around with JADE. But I am more happy to become 2010's wife! After going through our premarital counselling course, I realise it's about being one in body, mind, heart and spirit - with him & God.

I told Anna recently: God created marriage for His great purpose - hence, man & woman exist. Marriage, in God's eyes, is a convenant, not a contract. It's not the signatures on the certificate, nor the design/cost of rings, nor where the wedding is held, nor the honeymoon. But since these are a once in a lifetime event, they should be done properly.

However, marriage is so much more - it is so binding, lifelong, deep, profound a promise that even I have yet to fully grasp it. Its biblical expectations, the full meaning of being one with this man who will soon become my husband in good and bad times. To be ruled by someone and to submit willingly to that person. It took me some time to realise, that it's no longer about his & mine. It's ours. Our values. Our time. Our home. Our finances. Our destination. I've to grow up so quickly to take on a new role. I can only walk this journey hand in hand with 2010, with God guiding us, step by step, day by day, with His will as our goal and His word as the light to our journey.

Getting married needs readiness. Today, a colleague told me she couldn't possibly be tied down, & that she was afraid she'd get bored. But to me, it's actually a joy to decrease that freedom of individuality and to discover & embrace the freedom of togetherness - being one in God.

Loving you all,
Joy who will be married in 40 days AAAAHHHHHhh! "
