Branding 6.4

How practice is changing at Wolff Olins

In this film, made in New York in September 2013, you’ll see four of the most experienced Wolff Olins people talking about how their practice has changed in the last 20 years.

They talk about three shifts:

• from a linear method, based on presentations to clients, to something more interactive, based on workshops

• from expressing a client’s strategy to driving its activities, a shift from ‘corporate identity’ to ‘brand’

• from designing communication items to connecting the dots in the client’s whole customer experience.

And at the end, they offer some radical thoughts on the future of brand consultancy. How far would you agree with their analysis?

10 Life Lessons to Excel in Your 30s

1. Start Saving for Retirement Now, Not Later

2. Start Taking Care of Your Health Now, Not Later

3. Don’t Spend Time with People Who Don’t Treat You Well
Choose who we hang out with. Choose what we do.

“Stay away from miserable people… they will consume you, drain you.” (Gabriella, 43)

As one reader wisely said, “Selfishness and self-interest are two different things. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.”

“Don’t settle for mediocre friends, jobs, love, relationships and life.” (Sean, 43)

“Setting healthy boundaries is one of the most loving things you can do for yourself or another person.” (Kristen, 43)

4. Be Good to the People You Care About

5.
“In a word: focus. You can simply get more done in life if you focus on one thing and do it really well. Focus more.” (Ericson, 49)

6. Don’t Be Afraid of Taking Risks, You Can Still Change

7. You Must Continue to Grow and Develop Yourself

8. Nobody (Still) Knows What They’re Doing, Get Used to It

stop obsessing about what is happening right now because it will change anyway, and get over the control issue about your life’s direction.

9. Invest in Your Family; It’s Worth It

Children are the most fulfilling, challenging, and exhausting endeavor anyone can ever undertake. Ever.” (Rich, 44)

10. Be better to ourselves. Be kind to yourself, respect yourself

“Be a little selfish and do something for yourself every day, something different once a month and something spectacular every year.” (Nancy, 60)

“When I turned forty my father told me that I’d enjoy my forties because in your twenties you think you know what’s going on, in your thirties you realize you probably don’t, and in your forties you can relax and just accept things. I’m 58 and he was right.”

NCC Service 16 February 2014

Part 1
Last week, the sermon talked about no condemnation with Christ.  There are people who are for it and some against it.

The gospel of John talks about Jesus miracle. There is a sign about the woman mentioned - the adulteress nation of Israel. Jesus gave her no condemnation to give her the power to sin no more.

But the church says go and sin no more first, then we forgive you. When you free someone from condemnation, you free them from their sinful lifestyle. When you fall in love with Jesus, you fall out of love with sins.

When Jesus rescued the woman, he fulfilled the law. Jesus had to bear her condemnation. The sinless have to bear for the sinful. Shepherd feed the sheep and not beat the sheep.

Don't see the sinful as rebellious, see them as sheep without a shepherd.

The only way to stop addiction is to believe Jesus carried our sins and addiction on the cross.

HABIT - take away the H, A, B... We still have it. The biggest problem is I. Remove I, we will have the cross and only Jesus can remove our undesirable habits."

Part 2

Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the "midst" of them, and so passed by. (John 8:56-59 NKJV)

The moment we cannot see grace, we will miss the blessings under our nose.

Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her "in the midst", (John 8:3 NKJV)

Take a look at this website:) http://www.traditioninaction.org/religious/h010rp.LadyGrimston_Galitzin.html "Who sin?" is not a question to help the sinful. Why talk of the darkness when light abounds? Why talk about satan who hates you and not JESUS who loves you?

Jesus is what you need, healer when you are sick, provider when you are broke... The needs exist for the manifest of works of God.

God of acceleration

Shift into High Gear

“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”
(Habakkuk 2:3, NIV)

We’re living in a day where God is speeding things up. What should have taken you a lifetime to accomplish, God is going to do in a fraction of the time because you honor Him. God is going to give you breaks that you didn’t deserve. He is going to bring the right people across your path. You’re going to see opportunity like you’ve never seen before. You need to get ready; you’ve come into a shift!

Think of it like a car. When you shift from second gear to fourth gear, the engine is still running at the same speed. It’s not working any harder, but you’re going faster. You’re covering more ground. The higher gears have greater capacity. They’re designed to go faster. In the same way, because you’ve kept God first place, He is shifting you to a higher gear. You’re going to go further, faster not because you’re working harder trying to make it all happen, but because it’s your time for acceleration!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for Your hand upon my life. I trust that You are working behind the scenes as I honor You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Six Must-Have Traits of a Social Media Manager Read more: http://www.marketingprofs.com/articles/2014/24625/six-must-have-traits-of-a-social-media-manager#ixzz2vlWPQDJY

The business is going well, and you're getting some traction on Facebook, but you're at the point of social media burnout. You've decided it's about time your business had a dedicated social media manager. Good move. Because it's a big job, even if you're using the best social media management tools.

But what skills, traits, and experience you should be looking for in the perfect social media manager?

1. Experience With Multiple Platforms

It may sound obvious, but a social media manager who has experience only with Twitter and Facebook isn't going to be the perfect candidate. What about blogs, forums, and newer platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest? Your social media manager needs to understand the major social platforms; at the very least, he must have the ability to learn the platforms quickly.

Part of understanding social is understanding the platforms and how they can be most effectively used to benefit your brand. As your social media strategy grows, you may well need to use more platforms, and you need your manager to be able to hit the ground running on those new platforms.

2. Great Writing Skills

To effectively communicate across social media platforms, your social media manager has to have an adaptable and engaging writing style. The way we communicate on Twitter can be very different from the way we do on Facebook: We all know that getting your point across in 140 characters can be tough! You manager needs to be able to write long-form text, too, particularly if you're using a blog as part of your strategy.

3. A Thick Skin

It's not always rosy in the social media garden; at times, your social media manager will have to deal with negative noise and comments around your brand. It can be tough to be the person on the end of all the flack; however, a great social media manager will be able to quickly decide how to deal with the negativity and remain calm and helpful at all times. This role is not for those who panic.

4. Top-Notch Project Management Skills

Social media is not a broadcasting tool; it's a way for brands to tap into people's natural socializing processes. Your social media manager must therefore understand your consumers' typical behavior patterns, including how they communicate with one another and interact with brands they support.

A busy social media strategy takes a lot of management. Your social media lead needs to be able to juggle different platforms, content bases, and even internal departments. A structured approach will ensure momentum and help to offer value to your audience.

5. An Analytical Brain That Understands the Big Picture

Social media changes every day. Your social media manager must stay up to date on all of the changes, and he must be willing (and able) to alter your social strategy accordingly. Making sudden changes to a plan is never easy, but in this industry it is essential.

It is important for your social media manager to be driven by the success of your brand, which often means re-evaluating tactics when new opportunities emerge. Understanding social media is great, but it means nothing if those efforts aren't providing any value to your business.

Your social strategy should tie into the brand's overarching business strategy. It is essential for your social media manager to understand your company's challenges and goals so that he can build your social strategy accordingly.

The person managing your social media presences will be the person who'll know the most about your communities and how they're responding to your work. With that in mind, he needs to be able to analyze the plethora of data that is available to him and make recommendations or decisions based upon it.

6. A Capacity and Eagerness to Learn

As I keep noting, social media is a constantly changing industry. Regardless of the amount of experience your social media manager has, the willingness to learn is one trait that cannot be overlooked.

This person must be willing to not only stay on top of changes on current social platforms but also keep up to date on emerging platforms that would be a good fit for your brand.

Your social media manager must also be able to determine whether your current social strategy is benefiting your business and identify challenges on a regular basis.

* * *

So there you have it: a quick guide to some of the key skills your potential social media manager should possess.

How To Ask For And Get The Career You Want By Carrie Gallant

Here are the 3 secret to asking for and getting what you want:

  1. Know what you want and why you want it
  2. Know your value and know you are worth it
  3. Know what they value – Is what you’re asking for match up with what they want? Build a bridge to connect the values of both sides.

Why does this gender pay gap exist?

  • While 51% of men negotiate pay in a job offer, women are 4 times less likely than men to negotiate, meaning only 1 in 8 women will negotiate their worth.
  • Studies show, those who negotiate get an average of an additional $5,000 in their salary.
    • If the original salary offered was $50,000, that’s a 10% increase. Over 40 years, with regular 5% increase every year, the person who negotiated will have earned an additional $634,000!
    • For bigger salary points, the difference is even more astounding. Say the starting point was $100k and it was negotiated up 10% to $110k, in 40 years, they will have over one million dollars more! One year, would be an additional $6k and in 5 years, an additional $27k.
  • When asked what aspects of their job is the most important, women place money in their top 5 choices. For men, money is their top first or second choice.
  • Women are more nervous and feel anxious
