Revalue leisure time -

In leisure, all of civilization, in essence, has been created—art, philosophy, history, science, discoveries, innovations—and all in long periods of uninterrupted leisure.

I like the way the Journalist puts it. To give ourselves time to idle. I definitely feel relaxed, recharged and better after a time of leisure. Many times good ideas arise from it. Though I'm not trying to think about work.

"And give yourself permission to designate joy, fun, play, reflection and idleness or quiet time as top priorities—and schedule them in until it becomes routine. You really don’t have to earn leisure by getting to the end of the to-do list. You never will. So flip the list. Put joy first."

Yes, give value fun in our lives. To recapture the value of play. A long period of leave every few years is good. It opens up the mind and we allow ourselves to experience different things. Lose some things to only treasure it more later on. Learn about other cultures and perspectives. Give ourselves some time to idle.

Work hard when it is time to, the play hard when it is time to. If we mix them or expect work to be simple or fun, then it is difficult to achieve. On the flip side, if we work and overwork ourselves, we'll burn ourselves out. Our other parts of our lives will slowly deteriorate. I'd like to see it as maintaining all aspects of our lives by allocating time.

I have many peers who seem to be working long hours and working on weekends for the entire day as well. That should not be the expected amount of effort required. We are underpaid then.

I believe in scheduling time for everything to have a balanced lifestyle. Never thought I enjoy a scheduled week with pockets of nights for me to idle. like to have a game of tennis or a night of drinks with friends. Time to randomly do an experiment by baking a cake that I like, hoping that it will turn out well but I know we'll that I'm a noob and would not be able to do a good job. Or even a night of swimming with my family and niece.

There is time for family on weekends, friends to catchup, love and reconnecting with them ;) , hobbies to learn to be good at a sports or in depth knowledge at something fun, exercising to maintain our healthy bodies, ourselves and lastly for spiritual growth.

Glad with my fixed work hours I'm able to have a life outside of it.

Meantime, I shall enjoy leisure activities on a lovely weekend. :)
